Ounkar Kaur
Ounkar Kaur (MSc) is a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist with extensive experience in mental health since 1995. She is a trainer, consultant, and supervisor, offering her expertise to organisations in both the voluntary and statutory sectors. Ounkar is a member of The Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy, registered with The British Psychoanalytic Council, and a professional member of The International Association for Counselling.
She has worked in NHS and voluntary settings, providing counselling to individuals and couples from diverse religious, cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds. For the past 10 years, Ounkar has taught at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC), developing popular courses such as ‘Listening Skills for Living and Working in a Multicultural Society’ and BCPC’s Foundation Course. Her teaching extends to The University of Bristol, where she has lectured on Race, Culture, and Ethnicity. An accredited Race Equality Trainer since 2008, she has designed and delivered mental health training to address inequalities and improve accessibility for marginalised communities.
Ounkar's recent independent course, ‘Changing Times and Evolving Cultures,’ focuses on understanding and managing human differences. She continues to develop her private practice in Bristol and other cities, committed to exploring human differences and finding creative ways to manage them.
Ounkar’s specialisms include counselling and psychotherapy in Punjabi, Urdu, Hindi, and bilingual settings; supervision in the context of race, culture, and ethnicity; designing and delivering diversity training; cultural competence training; personal development courses; curriculum development; bilingual training for audiences with minimal or no English; and mental health training.
